tell it SLANT

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth’s superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind
— Emily Dickinson

Jesus’ stories are some of his most well-known teachings. He loved to teach using “parables”: punchy mini-stories that tell the truth, but “tell it slant.” Jesus, to teach us about the God we can’t see, unfolds to us parables from the everyday world we can see; he tells stories about judges and neighbors, widows and sheep and lost coins and lost kids. This fall at FPC, we’ll be listening to Jesus’ parables as he surprises us with the truth about God, ourselves, and the good news of God’s grace.

So, whether you’re just beginning to explore what it might mean to be a Christian, or are a seasoned follower of Jesus, join us at FPC this fall!
