Craft Fair Excursion

Mark your calendar with a big star on May 14, 2011. We are going to have a special Saturday excursion; a combined adventure and Out to Lunch Bunch in beautiful Stuart, FL. We will head north for their historic 14th Annual Craft Fair in the “Old Town” area of Stuart. There is no admission fee so we are literally and figuratively free to wander through the booths. They feature paintings, crafts, jewelry, sculptures, orchids and other plants, baked goods and fresh produce, along with other treasures to be discovered! If you are not an avid shopper, it is a perfect area to sit in the shade and watch the world go by while enjoying the scenery.

We will be there for an hour and a half and then ride to “Sailor’s Return”, a nearby restaurant with a water view. It has a mixed, moderately priced menu designed to please everyone’s  palate! Since it is in a beautiful tropical harbor setting, we can dress casually and comfortably. It will be “Dutch Treat” as our Out to Lunch Bunch events always are. The only cost for this marvelous day in Stuart will be the cost of the van, which is $5, and your lunch bill. Please call Pat Pero at 691-4097 before May 11 for reservations and let us know if you will be driving with us. The van will leave the church at 10:00 am and we will be back by mid afternoon.

SENIOR DINNER – HOORAY FOR THE RED WHITE AND BLUE!

Our Keenager Dinner on May 27th will be a patriotic celebration, honoring all of the service men and women in our church this Memorial Day Weekend. We want to invite all current military and retired veterans to join our group at this unique event. The Reverend Dr. Ron Hilliard has agreed to act as the MC and interview a panel of some of our own retired military officers, Bill Doyle, Don Youatt and Tom Whitesell. We will have an Honor Guard from our own First Pres Boy Scout Troop #155 and special patriotic music. It will be a great kick off for your holiday weekend. You may want to wear red, white or blue…or your own old service uniform! The cost for dinner is $10 per person and includes a special holiday menu! Please call Emily Hughes before May 23rd at 626-8002.

THERE WILL BE NO SENIOR DINNER IN JUNE…

Out to Lunch Bunch – June 10th – Guanabanas

Our “Out to Lunch Bunch” cordially invites all of you who are too busy in “the season” to please join us for this summer outing! We have planned something extra special for the month of June and want to make a big impression on you and your friends. As always, we will go “Dutch Treat” and only charge a dollar if you want to ride in the church van. Where are we going? Guanabana’s Restaurant on A1A, just southeast of the Jupiter Lighthouse. It is very popular and too busy to get reservations during the winter time but they can accommodate us in June.

We will be dining outdoors but they have misters, fans, lots of shade, and covered areas. The menu is eclectic, moderately priced, and delicious; but it is the gorgeous setting, stretching along the meandering waterways, that makes this restaurant so appealing. The van will leave church at 11:30 am. Please make reservations by June 6th with Midge Zweig at 624-7248.

SENIOR TRIP TO CARLIN PARK

This will be the best kind of picnic; all you have to do is have fun! Put on your casual clothes and arrive at beautiful Carlin Park on Friday, June 24th. We have reserved the Gumbo Limbo Pavilion, which is located across the parking lot from the beach. Our catered picnic lunch will be served around noon, with hot dogs, hamburgers, creamy cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans and all the trimmings.

You can enjoy a walk along the beach or dip your toes in the warm ocean. We will also have board games and cards set up in the pavilion. Get ready for an afternoon of fellowship and fun, along with cool drinks and warm ocean breezes. The cost is $14 per person plus a dollar for fuel if you would like to ride in the church van. Please call and make reservations with Pat Pero at 561-691-4097 before June 20th, and tell her if you’dlike a ride. We will leave the church at 11 am and arrive back around 3 pm. However, we have the use of the pavilion until 5 pm. So, feel free to make a day of it! It would be great if a few of our ladies (or men!) could bring a dessert for all of us to enjoy with our afternoon activities. Please bring a friend to join us. We are a lot of fun!
