The Fellowship Committee’s

Objective is to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere that promotes Christian fellowship among the members and visitors of First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach through opportunities that will increase the depth of relationships and levels of involvement and caring.  1 Peter 4:9, Hebrews 13:2, Romans 12:13.

They conduct three or four weekend classes per year for New Members. They strive to integrate new members into church community and service. They provide follow-up support for new members with assigned mentors who make at least 3 contacts over the two months following membership and at 3 months, assess new member involvement in worship, study and service.

Fellowship also monitors visitors by reviewing weekly data base information; Sending letters to local visitors who provide addresses; Calling visitors who provide phone numbers; Matching visitors with neighbors who are members of the congregation for calls and visits; Supplying a visitors brochure that welcomes newcomers and provides information about the church. And, Fellowship provides small gifts with attached church information to visitors at Christmas and Easter.

Women of the Church

Our Fellowship staff members invite all women of the church to events that are sponsored by WOC or WIW and they incorporate new members onto the Women of the Church Council.

Emmaus Reunion Groups

The Fellowship Comittee enlists a person to keep track of the reunion groups. They find Emmaus community members to take responsibility for various aspects of the community.

Ushers and Greeters

Fellowship encourages our Deacons to be proactive in greeting members around the sanctuary. They have greeters out on the west end of the walkway from 9:10-9:35 and from 10:45-11:00 and enlist Sunday School classes and other groups to take responsibility for particular Sundays. They encourage ushers to have Visitors Brochures in hand to give to  visitors.

Ministry Information Stations

We regularly schedule someone to be in the courtyard each Sunday between services to answer questions and direct visitors to classes and  services.

Volunteer Member Involvement

The Fellowship Coordinator creates and maintains master list of persons who volunteer in all areas of the church. They are responsible for our volunteer recognition program. They encourage all members to volunteer in at least one area of church life as part of the Service component. They track volunteer involvement and evaluate the level of involvement of new members who have joined in the past two years.  They also review worship attendance and participation in service and study.
